Is the rate of deceleration the same as acceleration?

if an object in a vacuum on earth was to reach terminal velocity at a rate of sixteen feet per second per second and we were to reverse gravity or if we could flip the object to "going up" assume we are able to do this with any other forces effecting the object would it decelerate at a rate of sixteen feet per second per second
