How long is the British/UK passport application taking this time of year?

I just applied last week for a first-time British passport. I was born in the US and I'm a UK citizen by descent. The website says it should take up to 6 weeks, but there is now a notice saying there is a backlog and it could take longer. Does anyone know what the average processing time is right now? How long does it take for them to determine if you need an interview? How long after the interview before they issue the passport? Also, I think I sent in a copy of my birth certificate, but I sent in my original social security card and birth registration card, as well as two bank statements and a copy of my US passport, driver's license, and student ID. Will the copy of the bc be a problem? Any help would be great! I am super anxious!
