Do you know how long it takes for people to get their immigration papers?
I know what you mean. It's absurd to expect people to follow laws that don't suit their needs. Immigration laws have become more restrictive for 6 billion very good reasons. When my ancestors came here, the US population was less than 80 million versus 310 million today. The difficulty and expense of ocean travel made immigration to the US prohibitive for most of the world's then 2 billion people. Besides, back then the US wasn't significantly more prosperous than many other nations, so there was little incentive for people to give up everything and venture to an unseen land faraway. We can all agree that legal immigration is not easy. What we disagree on whether or not that is a good thing.
